

Blakehurst High School is a specialist Languages High School who offers students the opportunity to study Italian from Year 7 to Year 12. In the senior years students may choose to study Italian beginners if they have not studies Italian in the junior years or they may continue with their study of Italian by choosing the continuers course.
The HSC results in Italian are always outstanding.
In Year 10 students who are studying Italian are given the opportuniy to visit Italy for three weeks. This is an invaluable opportunity which allows the students to immerse themselves in the language and culture of the country.
Italian is not only offered at Blakehurst High School but Blakehurst Public one of our feeder primary schools also offers Italian. Here, students study the language from Kindergarten to Year 6. These students then have the opportunity of continuing their study of the language in high school.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between DEC International and the Milan Provincial government was officially signed in April 2013 in Milan in the presence of the Consul General for Australia and the Director of the Italian Ministry of Education - Lombardy regional office. The agreement involves joint activities and visits between selected schools in Milan and NSW.
Our schools is one of the schools to be involved in this exciting proram. We are very pleased to be involved and look forward to working with our partner school in Milan and hosting their visit in July 2014. We feel this reciprocal exchange program is invaluable not only to our students of Italian but also the Italian students. Sarh Rumiz an Italian teacher will accompany a small group of students will also travel to Milan for an educational visit as part of this program.
